Laura Risaliti Virtual and Multimedia Museum of Fortresses and Fortifications of the Serchio Valley

The Virtual and Multimedia Museum of Fortresses and Fortifications of the Serchio Valley is located in the historic center of Barga.

Inside the museum, through films and information panels, the visitor can have an immersive and interactive experience to discover the historical events and wonders of the area, between memory and innovation.

In the main room there is a control panel that allows you to select the various cultural contents, divided into four sections:

- Castles and Villages: places of enchanting beauty and points of strategic importance in the course of local history

 - Churches: it is possible to highlight their architectural and artistic qualities and the ecclesiastical history of the area, often closely linked to the extraordinary personality of the Countess Matilde di Canossa;

 - Bridges and roads: it is possible to discover many roads and mule tracks that unfolded along the mountains and valleys

 - Land and crafts: you can learn more about the naturalistic elements of the Serchio Valley, with evocative images that enhance the natural beauty of the area, with a reference to the ancient agricultural and artisanal professions, which in the past were fundamental for the survival of the inhabitants of these lands.

In a second room there is a monitor with in-depth films on the individual places of worship. The third room is dedicated to the exhibition of images and ancient maps of Garfagnana and the Serchio Valley. Another room offers insights into four important historical figures: the leader Castruccio Castracani, the great poet Ludovico Ariosto, the countess Matilde di Canossa and Paolo Guinigi, lord of Lucca at the beginning of the 15th century.
